Fall means more people staring at your entryway than any other time of year. Everyone drops off pumpkins, jackets and mail right there. Most walls just aren’t ready for it, lol!
The biggest mistake is treating that wall as an afterthought. It’s the first thing guests see, so it deserves a little more than a single coat hook and a stray umbrella. Am I right?
I scrolled through hundreds of pins to put this list together! Only the ideas that were doable on a weekend and didn’t require a contractor made the final cut.
Some of these use a hammer and a level. Others just need tape, paper or a trip to the thrift store.
Below you’ll find entry pieces, small wall tricks, study corners, dining room walls, outdoor spots and even a few paper crafts. Grab whatever fits your space and go from there.
Ready to make your entryway the best looking wall in the house? Let’s get into it!
ENTRY WALL DECOR IDEAS
Gallery Wall With Round Mirror
We’re starting off strong with a round mirror surrounded by smaller frames. The curves break up all those straight edges from the door and console table. How cute is this?
It really is that good.
- Round mirror anchors it all
- Hang the mirror at eye level
- Fill gaps with mismatched frames
Floating Shelf With Hooks
A floating shelf with hooks underneath solves the mail pile problem instantly. Keys go on the hooks, mail sits on the shelf and nothing lands on the floor anymore.
This one saved my sanity during the fall school pickup rush, haha!
- One shelf, zero clutter
- Mounts with four screws
- Hooks hold jackets and bags
Woven Basket Wall Arrangement
Woven baskets stacked in a loose grid bring texture without any color commitment. They’re basically wall art that also holds scarves and gloves. Who doesn’t love that?
I found most of mine at thrift stores for a dollar or two apiece. Mixing sizes keeps the wall from looking too matched, plus it hides scuffed spots on old baskets.
- Baskets do double duty
- Thrift find under two dollars each
- Holds mittens and scarves too
Wallpaper Accent Behind Console Table
Wallpaper behind a console table turns a plain hallway into something people photograph. You don’t need to paper the whole entry, just one accent section.
I went peel and stick because I rent and cannot commit to anything, lol! It comes down just as easily whenever I change my mind.
- Rental friendly accent
- Peel and stick, no paste
- Covers in about an hour
Vintage Coat Rack Display
The hooks on a vintage coat rack are usually brass or cast iron, built for years of jacket abuse.
It still hangs in his mudroom today, outlasting three of my own decor phases. Some finds just refuse to quit!
- Estate sale worthy find
- Cast iron hooks last decades
- Fits above a bench nicely
Mini Floating Corner Shelves
Small wall decor ideas usually start in the awkward corners nobody knows what to do with. Mini floating shelves tucked into a corner nook fill that gap perfectly.
I stack a candle, a tiny frame and one plant on top every time. It reads as intentional instead of leftover space, which is honestly the whole trick!
- Corners get a job now
- Two shelves fit most corners
- Holds candles and small frames
Tiny Framed Botanical Prints
Tiny framed botanical prints in a tight cluster look like a real gallery without the real gallery price tag. Four by six frames from the craft aisle work great here.
I print mine from free botanical archives online. Nobody’s guessed they didn’t cost a fortune, haha!
- Museum look, craft store cost
- Frames from the craft aisle
- Free prints from botanical archives
Small Macrame Hanging Plant
A small macrame plant hanger softens any hard wall corner. Pothos and string of pearls both trail nicely and barely need any light to survive.
This is the one project that made me feel crafty for an entire weekend, lol! Not bad for something that took an afternoon.
- Trailing plant, tiny footprint
- Beginner knot pattern
- Works with faux plants too
Cork Board With Postcards
Study wall decor ideas tend to get boring fast, but a cork board loaded with postcards fixes that in one afternoon. Pin up travel postcards, ticket stubs and little notes.
Mine still has a ticket stub from a trip I barely remember taking. It keeps changing as your interests do, which is honestly the best part!
- Never looks the same twice
- Cork board from the craft aisle
- Pins double as reminders
Motivational Quote Canvas Print
A motivational quote canvas print sounds cheesy until you’re stuck at your desk during finals week. Pick something short so it’s readable across the room. Nobody has time to squint at a poster while panicking, am I right?
Now I kind of want one too! Simple wins, apparently.
- One line, big pep talk
- Canvas print under fifteen dollars
- Readable from across the room
Wall Mounted Bookshelf Display
Wall mounted bookshelves free up desk space and turn a plain study wall into something worth looking at. Stagger the books instead of lining them up straight.
I always throw a small plant between stacks so mine doesn’t look like a library aisle. It works, though I still lose books behind the pots, lol!
- Books off the desk, onto the wall
- Floating shelves hold ten books each
- Stagger stacks for visual interest
Large Botanical Print Above Table
Dining wall decor ideas basically live and die by scale. A large botanical print above the table fills that big blank space without competing with the chandelier.
I learned the hard way that three small frames just look cluttered here. One oversized piece reads calmer and honestly looks more expensive than it is.
- One big print, zero clutter
- Oversized print from a print shop
- Frame in black or natural wood
Black Frame Gallery Above Buffet
A black frame gallery above the buffet is the move if you’ve got a collection of postcards, prints or old photos hanging around. Keeping every frame the same color ties it together instantly.
Same reaction every single time.
- Same frame, instant cohesion
- Mix vertical and horizontal prints
Outdoor Metal Sun Sculpture
Exterior wall decor ideas need to survive rain, wind and whatever the neighborhood squirrels get up to. A metal sun sculpture handles all of that without fading.
I mounted mine above the door after my old wreath got destroyed in one storm. It has survived two winters and every squirrel my yard can produce!
- Weatherproof and won’t fade
- Powder coated metal finish
- Mounts with two anchors
Hanging Lantern Porch Wall
A hanging lantern by the porch wall makes coming home after dark feel a little more special. Solar versions skip the wiring completely, so it’s a fifteen minute project.
Not that I’m dramatic about porch lighting or anything, haha! But it really does change the whole entrance.
- No wiring, all glow
- Solar powered, no outlet needed
- Hangs from a simple hook
Row Of Matching Framed Prints
Long wall decorating ideas usually fall apart because people try to fill the space with too much stuff. A row of matching framed prints spaced evenly solves that instantly.
I measured my gaps three times before hanging a single nail. Even spacing is what makes the whole row look intentional instead of random. I still double check it, lol!
- Evenly spaced, instantly polished
- Same frame, matched spacing
- Works down hallways too
Simple Line Art Sketch Print
Drawing ideas for wall decor don’t need to be complicated at all. A simple line art sketch print of a face or plant looks modern without trying too hard.
Not in my book would I have guessed a kid made it.
- Ten minutes, framed forever
- Black marker on plain paper
Folded Paper Flower Wreath
Easy wall decoration ideas with paper don’t get much simpler than a folded paper flower wreath. Tissue paper or old book pages both work beautifully here.
I string mine onto a plain wire hoop and hang it on whatever bare wall is complaining loudest. Sweet, simple and finished in an afternoon, lol!
- Wreath made from scrap paper
- Tissue paper or old book pages
